Abstract: In the future metaverse where virtuality and reality are highly interlinked, the integration of all elements such as the Internet, virtual reality, immersive experiences, blockchain, and digital twins builds a novel technological ecosystem for intelligent military practices. Against this backdrop, the paper discusses the transformative influence of the metaverse in military practices, with a primary focus on the special effect of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies for military training, link-up, and technological development in the field of national defense. The metaverse demonstrates remarkable advantages in the virtual environment, capable of realistically simulating battle scenarios and military actions, significantly improving the accuracy of the decision and the efficiency of the combat. It establishes real-time communication bridges among geographically dispersed personnel, facilitating seamless communication. Meanwhile, it offers detailed analyses of the terrain and the resources, injecting new intelligent support into strategic planning. This paper also reveals that the metaverse plays the role of an ideal testing ground for advanced military technologies, enabling precise adjustments of technologies before deployment to ensure foolproof operation.
