HIGH PRECISION TIMING SYNCHRONIZATION ALGORITHM FOR UFMC COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Abstract
Compared with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), universal filtered multi-carrier (UFMC) has the advantages of good out-of-band suppression and higher spectral efficiency, and is expected to be applied in future wireless communication systems. The existing UFMC timing synchronization algorithms generally present the phenomena of "platform" and "slow drop" near the sequence synchronization correlation peak, and the synchronization precision is not high. In order to improve the synchronization performance of the UFMC system, a high precision timing synchronization algorithm for UFMC communication systems is proposed. Combining the characteristics of UFMC filter output sequence and Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence, a new synchronization sequence was designed, and the corresponding timing measurement function was given. Simulation results indicate that the synchronization accuracy and the precision of the proposed synchronization algorithm is significantly better than those of the existing algorithms.
